But, I want the applique area larger, and on darker flowers for the striking contrast. After many generations, I am getting the kind of flowers I want. The very large applique throat in Time Keeper takes up about half of the flower surface. It is surrounded by a dark purple eye, which sometimes breaks up into a patterned eye. The petal self varies from a lavender to purple. For added drama, the petals roll up at the center of the flower, revealing the large applique pattern on the sepals. At the center of the flower is a green throat. I have taken Time Keeper to both narrow and full form flowers with equal success. Much admired by hybridizers, such as Jamie Gossard.
