Lilly King
(Tranquil Horizon x April LaQuinta) Sev. 7 - 8" fl. 28" sc. M 20 buds. Fertile both ways. Lily King is a huge, very formal flower. The self color is a bright coral with a pink blush. The substance is very heavy, and the flowers have extremely wide petals and sepals. At the center of the flower is a large, deep emerald green throat. The wide petals are surrounded by a ruffled gold edge. April LaQuinta has been one of my favorite pinks, so I crossed it to all of my pink and lavender lines. I certainly did not expect to get the bright coral color of Lily King. But, tracing the parentage back a few generations, I suppose the pink and yellow pigments aligned in the right way to create this beauty. Large, imposing flowers that always open beautifully.
