James's Prissy Kristi
(Alexa Katherine) x (Moment in the Sun x Macho Macho Man) Sev. 8 ”fl. 32” sc. M 25 -30 buds. They keep getting bigger and more shocking every year! These massive flowers start the season as a lavender, softening to a copper rose, with a green throat and huge ruffled and looped gold to chartreuse edges. While sometimes the color does not seem as clear as I would like, the flowers are always unbelievably dramatic. Every garden visitor was knocked-over by these flowers, and they were much admired by a number of hybridizers. It was Larry Grace’s number one pick a couple of years ago. When I asked why, he said, “Ted, how many 8” flowers with 1” green edges do you know of?” Well, I guess that says it all! The extremely fertile flowers rarely hang, and are beautifully displayed on tall scapes. The daylily connoisseur James Hall was so impressed that he asked me to name it for his granddaughter. My most used parent for the last several years for gigantic flowers with massive edges.
